Octoberfest is one of the largest competitions held in Central Ontario Section. Each year it attracts hundreds of skaters who are polishing up their programs as it is often the last stop prior to Sectionals, which is the first step in the process for qualifying for the Canadian Championships.

Octoberfest is co-hosted by Skate Canada Central Ontario, Mariposa and the Barrie Skating Club. This is a major fundraiser for our club, and that money raised goes directly towards reducing ice costs for our skaters.

With 4+ jam-packed days of skating, it takes many volunteers to make it all happen. If every parent of a BSC skater could give just an hour or two of their time, we could easily cover all of the jobs that need to be done. There is no specific skill / training / knowledge of skating required for most of the jobs and there are many experienced volunteers around that will answer your questions or help you out. All it really takes is a bit of time and your willingness to pitch in!

If you are able to help, please contact the BSC office at 705-719-2084 or to volunteer.

There are many of the jobs that highschool students can complete as well and earn their volunteer hours.

As an added perk, you'll get to see some great skating too!!
