ALL Skaters that are wanting to register MUST be able to skate from the door to their group, and around the ice unassisted. Barrie Skating Club reserves the right to remove skaters who do not meet this qualification from sessions in order to comply with restrictions regarding health and safety.

CanSkate programs are learn to skate programs for children aged 4 and older as of December 31st. Instruction covers Stages 1 to 6 of the CanSkate program, which is Skate Canada's flagship learn-to-skate program. Designed for beginners of any age, CanSkate teaches fundamental movements and basic skills that build a foundation for future development in figure skating, hockey, ringette or any other skate-based sport. For further information about the content of each level, please click on 'CanSkate' under 'Programs' on the BSC website. Skaters are divided into groups in all CanSkate and Pre-CanSkate programs, based on a number of factors, including ability and age. Skaters can register for any session, according to their preference for day and location. Groups at every level are offered on each session.

All cancellations due to holidays, tournaments etc. are listed on the calendar of the website.

A Performance Showcase will be taking place on Saturday April 3rd, 2021. CanSkaters MAY have the opportunity to participate in this, in a group number. This would include commiting to practices for the 2 weeks prior to the Showcase. More information regarding commitment and registration will be emailed closer to the date.

Please Note: At the current time due to COVID-19 restrictions we are only able to offer Learn to Skate programs to skaters currently working on Stages 1 and higher of CanSkate (must have passed PreCan Badge -Yellow ribbon).

Coaches are not permitted to have physical contact with skaters during sessions due to health and safety restrictions. 

ALL Skaters that are wanting to register MUST be able to skate from the door to their group, and around the ice unassisted. Coaches will not be touching skaters, helping them stand up, or helping them skate. Barrie Skating Club reserves the right to remove skaters who do not meet this qualification from sessions in order to comply with restrictions regarding health and safety.
