Skaters who have completed the 6 badges in the CanSkate program move on to STARSkate as their next step. The Barrie Skating Club offers 3 different levels of STARSkate programs.
The PRE-JUNIOR program is for skaters who have completed Stage 4 CanSkate and wish to be working towards integrating into a figure skating program as they finish their Stage 5 & Stage 6 levels.
The JUNIOR program is for skaters who have just completed CanSkate and are ready to work on their Skate Canada tests in Freeskate, Dance, Skating Skills and Interpretive Skating. These athletes train twice per week and have group lessons as part of their program. Junior skaters are encouraged to be working with a private coach, but it is not a mandatory part of their program.
The INTERMEDIATE program is for skaters who have completed one complete Skate Canada Preliminary Test (Freeskate OR Skills OR Dance - all 3 Preliminary Dances), and are competing at Freeskate STAR 2 level as a minimum.
The SENIOR program is for skaters who have completed their Junior Bronze Skating Skills OR Junior Bronze Free Skate OR Senior Bronze Dances and are competing at a Freeskate STAR 4 level as a minimum.
