Usually the first competition Junior Skaters will compete in is the BSC Club Competition. This competition takes place at the Allandale Rec Centre on a Sunday in mid-February (approximately). This competition is only for BSC skaters and is meant to be a fun introduction to competition. The full range of levels offered at other competitions are offered at Club Competition. Your coach will advise you when you are ready to participate in Club Comp (you will need a solo routine choreographed to music and your coach will prepare this with you), as well as the appropriate level to enter. The BSC Club Competition is always a great day. Skaters are encouraged to spend the day and support their fellow club skaters. Cheering on others builds comraderie in the club and seeing some of the older skaters inspires the young ones for what lies ahead!
The next level of competition beyond Club Comp is Huronia Funskate - our area competition. This competition is only for clubs in the NorthEast Area of the Central Ontario Section ... which includes, Barrie, Orillia, Elmvale, Penetang, Midland, Creemore, Stayner. It is held in December or January of each year. Because this competition is limited to just a few clubs, it is a great step beyond Club Competition. Once again, please consult your coach regarding a skater's preparedness to compete in this competition.
Beyond these 2 competitions, there are many opportunities to compete in a variety of STARSkate invitational competitions. The Barrie Skating Club is part of the Central Ontario Section (COS) of Skate Canada. COS offers some invitational competitions, We are also in close proximity to Northern Ontario Section and skaters are welcome to travel to invitational competitions there, or in any other section. It is the skater's coach who can best advise on the appropriate competition options for each skater
